About the Artwork
Inspired by the ancient Chinese legend of the moon goddess Chang’e 嫦娥, Spiritualised contemplates the moment when essence rises beyond form.
In the version of the tale I chose to portray, Chang’e drank the elixir of immortality, not out of desire, but out of sacrifice - to stop the villain from obtaining the godly power. She sacrificed union with the love of her life and had to endure eternal loneliness, for the safety of humanity.
Her selfless act has transcended her mortal form. But was immortality a reward or a punishment?
This piece is for collectors who are drawn to contemplate myth, inner transformation, and the complexity of spiritual becoming.
